The school’s pedagogic approach has
been created to :adhere to the
following concepts.
Educational components that
are constructed in such a way that every child can find ways to identify
with a wide variety of Jewish texts and concepts.
The school designates time
for students to discuss texts.
The general school
curriculum focuses on interdisciplinary studies that enable education in
its cultural context.
Parents of students study in
groups together with teachers and take part in formulating the educational
processes in the school.
The school emphasizes the
importance of asking questions as a central element in the educational
process, but does not forfeit necessary fields of basic knowledge.
The school’s process of joining a 4-year program in which emphasis
is placed on forming a team of teachers around their Jewish identity through
the development of unique school programs led by the school team.
The Israeli School Model is based on the assumption that
sharpening the identity and sense of mission among the teachers who are at the
heart of the educational process is the key to improving their conduct in all
realms.
The Israeli School Project is the
result of a cooperative venture between Education Watch, the Tel Aviv
University School of Education, the Israeli Culture Division – Kibbutzim
College of Education and the Tmura Institute for Training Jewish-Israeli
Leadership. Part of the supplementary education hours in the project are
funded by The Ministry of Education – Shenhar Commission which
accompanies the school model and the principals’ program that goes along with
it. The Jerusalem Institutefor Israel Studies conducts a performance measurement and evaluation of
the Israeli School Model .
