Background
In the past decades there is an continuing tendency of the residents in Ofakim to turn to Ultra-Orthodox educational establishments in the neighborhood. Today, most of the children in Ofakim aren't enrolled in the secular and orthodox public education system. The Ben-Gurion area is characterized as a neighborhood which is constantly becoming more and more Ultra Orthodox. This reality isn't in account of religious beliefs but rather the need to continue in the Ultra-Orthodox spirit it which their children receive their education. Needless to say that in this underprivileged neighborhood , majority of it's residents are in financial distress and tend to lean towards an education system that provides meals and after-school activities at a minimal cost that could only be offered by the CHAI Israeli Education Network and the Ultra – Orthodx programs .
